Celebrity Hand-Me-Down Auction
We almost started this post by calling it “Celebrity Baby Auction,” but, well, that’s just wrong. On so many levels. Instead, we’re going with something a little more accurate — the Celebrity Hand-Me-Down auction is taking place right now (through May 9) where you can bid on baby items that celebs no longer need.
Matt Damon’s diaper bag, Julianne Moore’s high chair, Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s stroller… it’s all on eBay right now.
THE ITEMS
Matt Damon — Designer diaper bag
Julianne Moore — Stokke high chair
Elisabeth Hasselbeck — Chicco Cortina Travel System
Jeri Ryan — Baby blanket, teething ring and sandals
Elisabeth Röhm — Booster seat by clek
Mariska Hargitay — Boy’s track suit and sneakers by Adidas
Tori Spelling – Baby clothes and diaper bag
Poppy Montgomery — Graco high chair
And, as you probably guessed, the money isn’t going to the celebrities themselves. Instead, proceeds will benefit charities including March of Dimes, Save the Children, Zero to Three and Baby Buggy. All great charities.
So far the item drawing in the highest bids is — no surprise, really — Matt Damon’s diaper bag at $415.

Which celeb-owned item would you pay out for?

I wouldn’t buy any of them. People act as celebrities are gods. It makes me mad. However, the money does go to a good cause. So, that justifies it! =)

Certain items should not be purchased 2nd and so I would be curious to know if the items advertised were actually used or if they are new in the box?
Car seats are not something I would ever borrow or buy used.

So is the $ going 2 the celebs or charities? The sentence needs 2 be corrected.

Also, all the celebs still have young kids, just had kids (Damon,Rohm,Hasselbeck,Montgomery) or are pregnant (Damon, Rohm, Spelling) so they get all new stuff for the 2nd /3rd kids? Must be nice.

It says :

The money goes to charity. The celebs most likely buy new or as often happens with celebs are given new items all the time by companies who are looking for free advertisement when there is a shop of their product being used by a celeb.
