Sittercity’s New Free Trial

We’re happy to announce the introduction of our new free trial memberships, providing parents and care seekers with access to Sittercity.com for seven days just to try us out. So if any of your friends are curious about how our service truly works, let them know they can get a sneak peek without paying a penny.

These free trial memberships allow people to:

  • Post one job in the care type of their choice
  • Receive email notifications when caregivers respond to the job
  • View partial caregiver profiles
  • Search for caregivers in their area

Just click the “Sign Up Now” button on our homepage, select the “I am Seeking Care” account type and the next page will allow you to select the free trial option.

Once the week is up, we do NOT charge the users or automatically upgrade them to a full (paying) membership. They can choose to upgrade at any time, where they’ll have complete, unrestricted access to all five care types and all of our features. :-)

how long does it take to become employed by a family. I use to get responds, but now, I hardly get any listing of families. I either have only four, or five listing that I have already made an application for the postion. Why, am I only seeing just 5 families? You mean that there are only four or five families in the port byron area needing babysitting services?

  2. lmarino Says:

Hi anghlina! I actually see more than five families in your area, so please contact Customer Service if you’re having trouble with the search results. You can also do some things to your profile to make it stand out, such as adding a picture and running a background check on yourself. Don’t hesitate to contact Customer Service if you have any questions! :-)

i have a baby so its hard to get parents to accommodate me and my child so i only apply to single jobs. its still is hard no one responds to me and i live in queens ny. i don’t have references only being a mom of two and senior care experience and 1 ref. is there no one in queens or Manhattan that wants someone like me. i submit applications everyday what im i doing wrong or not doing?

  4. lmarino Says:

Hi ruthbobb. You’re CPR-trained and your profile has a picture so that’s a good first step. One thing that might be limiting for you is that parents may be looking for a weekday babysitter or a sitter who has a car. Since your profile says you travel 5 miles outside your ZIP code, parents may also assume you won’t come to them if they are outside that. Also, listing references on your profile makes you an extremely appealing candidate — you can use a former teacher or someone similar. Doesn’t have to be an employer. Good luck!

    Hi Imarino,
I am in the same position as ruthbobb. I have a 6 month old and so I think that most families pass my profile by. But I have full availability and a lot of experience with children of all ages. Is there something I can do to make more families consider hiring me. I don’t even charge high rates or anything. I can’t believe no one has hired me yet. Help
