Which TV Character Would be the Worst Babysitter?

Out of Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin and Hank Hill, who do you think would be the worst babysitter? We’re willing to bet that most people would say, “All of them,” given the fact that these characters are some of TV’s more incompetent cartoon dads. Hardly role models, to say the least.

That’s exactly why the Smart Television Alliance (STA) is posing this seemingly unimportant question.

Irresponsible, careless, naive or incompetent are hardly the characteristics you would want in someone supervising your children, but some of the most well-known parents on TV possess these exact traits. Who would you least want to babysit your kids — Homer Simpson, Hank Hill or Peter Griffin?

[…]

The purpose of the survey is to get parents to think about the shows their children watch and promote healthy, educational programming that is age-appropriate.

So, who’s got your vote?

Am I crazy or am I the only one who thinks Hank Hill would be a good caregiver?

Sure he could be a little backwards at times, but he is always about safety and being appropriate in front of children. There was one episode where some parents let some of the middle schoolers. have a boy/girl party unsupervised and Hank stepped in before some bad stuff happened. He organized some games and made sure the kids all had a good time.

Has anyone noticed that all of those characters are alcoholics? Purhaps that is the question they should be asking and drawing attention to. That’s just my point of view though.

I feel Homer Simpson would be the worst.

josh19, you totally got it right. He’s the most stand-up, real person out of all of them. Yeah, it’s a cartoon, and I avoid it if I can, but that show actually has some teaching value in it!

I really don’t know because I stop watching TV about 10 yrs ago. It is kind of hard to watch it after I got saved and gave my life to ‘Jesus’. Then I found out that the bible says that we are on earth in this life just for the pleasure of the Father ‘Jesus’ who made us, and that King Solomon said in the bible that we are nothing but dirt, this is why when we die we turn back to the dirt are, and if you think about it everything we eat is dirt. In this life there is nothing that last forever. Only after we leave this body and life do we get the real everlasting life with ‘Jesus’ or with the devil in hell and I do not want to go to hell forever, do you. This life is not the real life. So the ‘Lord’ said why waste my time (which is all this world is made for anyway, is to see who will use up all their time here on things in this world than to give our time to the ‘Lord’ which proves that we are worthy of the real life after this life. The one that last forever. So I can’t waste my time on TV or really all the stuff of this world I’m waiting on the next, real world, then I can rest and enjoy my life. This life is not for me, It’s for ‘Jesus’ or the devil. So TV do not matter it is a trick of the devil to keep you from serving to the’Lord’ and get to the real life.

Homer ran an in-home child care in one episode and he won a community service award for it. Homer loves his kids and would do anything for them. Peter Griffin is an idiot and so is his wife. Hank Hill is terrified of bonding with Bobby, unless it has something to do with sports. He is constantly worried about Bobby becoming some kind of sissy. Those are not values I’d want shared with my child.
