I have many years of childcare experience, from part-time sitter to full-time nanny. I have worked with single children, siblings, and twins: I have also worked with typically-developing children as well as children with special needs such as cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, and Down syndrome. I view the role of caregiver as providing everything the parents provide in their absence: 100% of my attention, love, nurturing, safety, entertainment, reading, playing, feeding, changing, picking up toys--everything you do with your child when you're there. I'm looking for a long term part-time or full-time situation where I can become an integral part of a child's life: I think children need reliability and predictability, and a long-term caregiver can provided an extra sense of familiarity and safety when the parents are not there. Until mid-June 2007 (when I began the process of moving to Florida), I cared for two children full-time Monday through Friday, and am available full-time or part-time days, evenings, weekends, and an occasional overnight if arranged in advance. I'm a non-smoker, no drinking, no drugs. Since I used to work for a state agency, I've had a CORI check done. I'm red-cross certified in infant/child CPR, have a sterling driving record and a reliable car (with two toddler car seats and an infant seat). I also enjoy pets: cats, dogs, small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.) and reptiles/amphibians.
