I've held a regular after-school job watching two school aged children (7 and 10) for two years, as well as watching younger children (2-4) and other school-age children on weekends. I have just returned from a two month job at a sleepaway summer camp for boys and girls aged 7-14, and just had a fantastic time spending my summer with my kids. I love hanging out with them on their level but am still able to be firm to make sure things stay within established boundaries.

In terms of disabilities, I know conversational sign language (many of my friends are deaf), and would also be comfortable working with children with High Functioning Autism/Asperger's, as well as with children with other disabilities (depending on the severity and the amount of training I would be receiving).

I also really enjoy pets (I have five dogs and two ferrets)...however, I am uncomfortable with "bully breeds" and high energy/destructive dogs.
