Bio
About Me: Hello, My Name is Marie Waters. I have eight years babysitting experience, and am twenty two years old. I love taking care of children of all ages and interacting with them, assisting them with using their manners, and also love helping school-age children with homework. In addition I also truly love caring for infants, as it is amazing to watch how their personalities expand on a daily basis! I have extensive training in the recognition, as well as treatment of life threatening injuries and illnesses in infants, children, and adults. I also had a Virginia state background check completed in january which also included a Sex Offender Registry search.
I also have wonderful references to give during an interview, I do not post my references on the internet because I would prefer to not have them receiving lots of phone calls before I even meet a family. I am able to bring all certifications as well as the clean background check result sheet with me during an interview, and will also provide my references' contact information. Verification of my VA EMT-Intermediate certification is also available via a name search on the Virginia Office of Emergency Medicine (VA OEMS) Website: <WEBSITE> Enter First Name:Marie Last Name: Waters It will state fairfax county fire department emt-i.
In addition to all the basic sitter duties I enjoy teaching children both about safety and what a firefighter as well as a police officer uniform look like while explaining to them that both firefighters and police officers are safe people to turn to when they need help. As far as discipline goes I believe in time-outs, or time-outs for toys. I also strongly believe in positive reinforcement (sticker chart with prize at end of week, pick of dinner or activity etc) I like to try and mimic the parents' way of doing things the most to keep structure in childrens lives, and also try and cater to the activities the specific child likes most (after any room-cleaning/homework if any they’re required to do is done).
I currently have my ground Paramedic (National Registry EMT-I) certification as well as a Sport Safety Certification, which is more focused on orthopedic type injuries.I also have recieved advanced ITLS (International Trauma Life Support certification), as well as PALS certification (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). In addition, I also have a current certification in Healthcare Provider level CPR for infants, children, and adults. I also attended the safe-sitter course held at Reston hospital and received a safe-sitter certification. I attended a local police volunteer leadership academy/ bootcamp for a week this summer, and also attended a national leadership bootcamp hosted by the US Army MPs for a week at the Fort Leonard Wood, MO army base. Only 24 people nationwide graduated from the program this year, and 25 were accepted into the program. I have a wide range of experience dealing with up to four children at a time, and also caring for children between three weeks of age and twelve years old.
I am an operational volunteer with the county fire and rescue department, and was a county police department volunteer until the end of 2007 when I aged out of the program. I provide over 900 hours of service to my community each year. I am a Paramedic with the fire department, which allows me to run calls in an ambulance as one of the emergency care providers. I am directly responsible for the pre-hospital patient care of any patient during the time I staff an ambulance. I am currently in school to receive my flight level paramedic certification and a criminal justice degree. I currently am EVOC-2 certified (emercency vehicle operations) To drive an emergency vehicle up to the size of an ambulance. If they hold the course, I plan to get swiftwater rescue certified this summer as well. I just received my EMT-Intermediate degree, and after acquiring my EMT-P degree and finishing all clinical rotations I will be applying to the Fairfax County Police Department for the position of Police Officer 1. After Attaining the rank of police officer first class (PFC), which should be attained 3-5 years after becoming an officer, I plan to apply to the specialty unit known as Fairfax1. Fairfax1 is the police aviation unit. This unit consists of 2 bell 407 helicopters, and is staffed by a crew of two police officers and one pilot at any given time. The helicopter is capable of performing police missions, emergency medevac missions, and also swiftwater rescue mission. All police officers on this unit are cross trained as paramedics and aviation swiftwater rescue technicians.
Thank You for Your Time, and I Hope to Hear from You Soon!
~Marie
