My name is Victoria Haddad. I am an Early Childhood Education major and American Sign Language minor at Columbia College.I am CPR certified and I'm interested in a obtaining position that allows me to express: my love of teaching and caring for children, the importance of art and music in learning, and the belief that all children are capable. My hobbies include gardening, cooking, reading, camping/hiking, baking, and jewelry making. I hope to publish a children's book this summer. Early Childhood Education at Columbia is taught with emphasis on the Reggio Emilia approach, which has strengthened my belief that the arts are essential to a child's physical, social/emotional, and cognitive growth. I actively volunteer with the non-profit organization, Chicago Cares Inc, as the Team Coordinator of an arts-based and child-centered project at a local shelter. My senior year of high school, I worked closely with the special education department and participated in weekly field trips with the teens in that program. In the summer, my time is spent as a mentor and tutor with Chicago HOPES, which is a program that provides educational assistant and art outlets to homeless children in the Chicago Public School system.
